Fractional Chief Compliance Officer (CCO)

Add senior compliance leadership to guide priorities, governance, and execution.

The work

What this service addresses

When compliance priorities outgrow the capacity of an existing team, leadership needs a clear view of the program, defined decision rights, and a realistic work plan.

How we can help

We work with management to assess the program, clarify responsibilities, prioritize issues, and establish a useful cadence for reporting and follow-through. Any formal officer designation or delegated authority requires an explicitly agreed scope.

When fractional leadership fits

An organization may be building its first structured compliance function, have a gap in senior leadership, or need experienced oversight while its internal team handles daily operations. A defined part-time engagement can also support a period of growth, a major remediation effort, or exam preparation.

What we can lead

Depending on the agreed scope, we can assess the CMS, set a risk-based work plan, guide policies and procedures, establish testing and monitoring priorities, coordinate training and complaint oversight, report to leadership, and track corrective action. The goal is a functioning program and a team that knows what it owns.

How the role is defined

The contract should specify time commitment, reporting line, decision authority, deliverables, and the responsibilities that remain with management and counsel. If a formal Chief Compliance Officer designation is contemplated, that is addressed explicitly rather than assumed from the term “fractional.”

Work begins with a defined scope and the facts of your organization. Our work draws on the senior compliance experience of Alison Stokes, CRCM; your leadership and relevant specialists retain ownership of business decisions and final regulatory positions.
